Diagnosis of Diabetes

Diabetes onset can vary based on type. Often, the onset of type 1 diabetes is fairly quick. Some symptoms of type 1 diabetes is urination at a frequent rate along with an increase in thirst and fluid consumption. Some visible signs may be weight loss regardless of normal eating patterns, increased desire to eat, and an un-shakable level of fatigue. Some of these symptoms are apparant in individuals with out-of-control type 2 diabetes.

Additional symptoms may include a change in vision. High levels of glucose can change the shape of the lens in the eye. This change can lead to blurred vision. More concerning symptoms would consist of a smell of acetone in an individual's breath which would signify possible onset of ketoacidosis. Rapid breathing, hostility, confusion, and lethargy are also signs of the onset of diabetes.
